My First Blog

This is my first blog. I am new at this so bare with me. I am sure my posts will get better with time.

For the past six months I have primarily been a stay at home dad for my son.  It has been an interesting challenge being both a dad and a stay-at-home husband. I have learned that my wife and I have two very different ideas about a lot of things. Take cleaning for example we have two different ideas of what "clean" is. I guess, that is because I am man, which I have learned are not as inherently clean as women are. So, I have tried to up my cleanliness game, which has been successful more or less.  It really depends on the day. I still can't cook and we eat out a lot. More than we need to.  It is just easier. Which is kind of a lame excuse for anything.

My wife and I have been married for one year.  Our first anniversary was on March 22.  We have one son and we are expecting a little girl this summer.  Yes, I know.. We will have two little babies running around. We usually get a gasp when people find out. Or someone will be like  "What the hells wrong with you?" or "oh.. that must be an oops baby" of course in your head you're like, "just trying to have a good life and a good pregnancy here, filled with happiness and joy because are family is growing.. do you mind? Could you try saying something like.. I dunno.. Congratulations?

But, I digress... I would like to try very hard not to use my blog for ranting. Though I know there will be entire blogs devoting to the sport of the rant. I just don't want start at the gate ranting away.. It just bothers me when people.... UHH.. there i go again..

Last week my friends and I went to check out an Owen Beverly show at The Village Tavern in Mt. Pleasent, Sc. It was the first real time I had the time to go out and check out some local happenings.  I had played at The Village Tavern a few years ago and they have really updated it since then.  I enjoyed Owen's set very much.  I have been burning up his new CD "Shooting the Bull", I can't stop listening to it. It's very good.

The next day a band that I play with did a tv thing for AOL in Columbia, Sc. That was an experience. A local studio there has some kind of deal with Time Warner Cable, where acts come in, are taped, and then aired on like a OnDemand channel. Not having Time Warner cable I didn't pay to much attention to all the details. Although I am supposed to get a copy of the session in the mail and I am interested in seeing the finished product. I played my double bass on two of the three songs and on the third song I played my six string electric bass. (for all of you Anthony Jackson Fans I'll say, I played my six string Contrabass Guitar) It was the first time I have played my double bass out like that.. I used to play for school and around the house. It was a great experience for me. I loved the sound they were able to get. I hope to make it a regular appearance on all of my gigs..

This past weekend I was up in Newberry Sc at the Newberry Operahouse, mixing Monitors for Jay and the Americans on Friday night and Steve Tryell on Saturday night. That was a good time. Set up was a breeze, sound check went smoothly, the bands were awesome and super tight, the acts were great, and the crowd loved it.  I was very pleased with the whole weekend.
